3rd Gen Tacoma Extreme Clearance Flat Top Bumper Kit

This is our new extreme clearance DIY weld-together winch bumper kit for the 3rd generation (2016-2022) Toyota Tacoma. This bumper kit involves cutting off the low-hanging front frame crossmember on the Tacoma and replacing it with our included heavy duty crossmember. This not only provides a huge strength increase but also gains a whopping 4.5" of ground clearance at arguably the most important location of the vehicle! We then went and redesigned our full underbody skid plate set to mate up with the supplied frame crossmember. This makes for a seamless package that squeezes every possible inch of ground clearance out of your Tacoma all the way from the bottom of the grill to behind the transfer case. This bumper allows you to forget about approach angle and substantially improves the offroad capability of your Tacoma. It offers excellent protection from rocks, trees and animal strikes and has been kept to a weight of 98lbs through careful design work.

While the Toyota Tacoma is one of the best offroad platforms available, the frame does have a few limitations from the factory. At the front of the Tacoma frame, there is a low hanging crossmember that hangs down 4.5" below the actual main frame rails. There are no engine or radiator components located behind this crossmember, just empty space! By cutting off this low hanging crossmember and welding in our supplied heavy duty crossmember in line with the main frame rails, the front bumper and skid plates can then be mounted 4.5" higher. This gives a ton of extra clearance and approach angle that will transform the offroad capability of your Tacoma.

This bumper still uses the factory frame stud plates to mount to the vehicle, meaning that there is absolutely no guess-work required when mounting the bumper or welding in the supplied crossmember. The factory frame studs will locate the bumper perfectly on the vehicle, and then the supplied crossmember comes pre-cut with holes for three large 1/2" bolts. These 1/2" bolts tie the winch plate of the bumper directly into our heavy duty crossmember, making for an extremely strong and stiff bumper that will not flex or shift under hard winching and recovery point pulls. This also relieves stress from the factory frame stud plates, which are known to be a weak point on the Tacoma.

The main section of this bumper is CNC-bent out of a single piece of  3/16" P&O Steel. This greatly reduces the amount of welding and grinding required by you and makes for a cleaner finished product. If you are paying to have the bumper assembled by a welding shop, this significantly lowers the cost.

We finished this bumper off with four integrated light buckets for surface mount LED pod lights (custom light cut outs available by request, such as a light bar version), an integrated winch mount to accept all standard 8-12k lb winches with removable solenoids, and heavy duty 9/16" recovery points that are placed directly in line with the Tacoma frame to eliminate any leveraging effects. These recovery points are formed by laser cut steel plates that pass through the bumper shell and tie directly into the Tacoma frame as part of the bumper's main mounting brackets. The recovery points then get welded to the in and outside of the bumper shell. These factors all combine to form recovery points that minimize stress on your Tacoma frame and provide reliable recoveries of heavily loaded vehicles in the worst of offroad situations.

Don't want to lose your factory parking sensor system? No problem. This bumper kit can be ordered with CNC-cut ports for each of the 4 factory parking sensors as well as internal routing ports for the factory wiring harness to pass through without any modification or extensions required (Please email us or put a comment in your order notes section to receive this option). Simply pop the sensors into this replacement bumper, route the factory harness through the internal ports, and plug it back into the vehicle. The factory wiring harness is easily removed from the stock bumper and transferred to the Coastal Offroad bumper. This allow you to wire in our LED driving lights and your factory parking sensors right into the Coastal Offroad bumper using the factory wiring harness. When removing the Coastal Offroad bumper from the vehicle, all wiring is then conveniently disconnected all at once via the factory plugs located behind the vehicle grill.

Please take note that the factory frame crossmember that gets removed serves as the meeting point between nearly all front bumpers and skid plates.
